Join Our Team as a Backend Software Engineer (SRE Focus)!

Join one of our CoreTech teams — Developer Experience, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Observability, or Data Engineering — as a Software Engineer with an SRE mindset!

As a Mid-level SRE-focused Software Engineer, you will contribute to designing, building, and optimizing scalable, reliable, and efficient distributed systems that power OLX’s global platforms. Working at the intersection of infrastructure and application development, you’ll collaborate across teams to improve platform resilience and developer workflows — ensuring alignment with OLX’s business goals and operational standards.

You will take ownership of complex technical challenges and contribute to infrastructure automation. You’ll also support and mentor junior engineers while growing your own leadership capabilities.

What You Will Be Doing

• Own the development and improvement of internal tools and platforms that enhance system observability, automation, and incident response.
• Engage in product and platform design discussions, writing and reviewing high-quality code primarily in Golang, focused on reliability and maintainability.
• Participate actively in security and privacy discussions, ensuring our systems meet high standards of compliance and safety.
• Collaborate with engineers across different OLX locations and CoreTech teams to solve complex technical challenges.
• Drive and contribute to technical documentation, including design documents and RFCs, fostering knowledge sharing and alignment across teams.
• Take part in continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices (e.g., Terraform), promoting automation and repeatability on cloud-native platforms.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in the growth of the SRE and engineering communities within OLX.

Who We Are Looking For

• A professional experienced in working within multi-functional teams, collaborating closely with engineers, SREs, and product teams.
• A developer with a solid grasp of backend technologies, system architecture, and the typical challenges of building reliable, scalable services.
• An engineer proficient in Golang, with additional knowledge of Python considered a plus.
• Someone skilled in debugging and performance optimization to quickly identify and fix bottlenecks or reliability issues.
• A practitioner familiar with CI/CD pipelines, RESTful APIs, and running applications on AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Experienced with both relational and non-relational databases such as MySQL, DynamoDB, and Redis.
• A problem solver who thinks economically and pragmatically when designing solutions for large-scale web applications.
• An enthusiast eager to deepen expertise in SRE tooling, processes, and best practices.
• A strong communicator in English, comfortable sharing knowledge and collaborating across distributed teams.
