Octopii Social released just last month for iOS and Android is right around the corner. We’ve built a solid launchpad, engaged a small audience, proven the core UX, and now it’s time to go to the moon with viral mechanisms — engagement loops, dialing in the UX (we have over 100 improvements planned!), and an imminent Android release. It’s an exciting time to come aboard!

At this time we are in search of our first equity-based (Partner grade) Lead Senior Mobile Developer — Greater Seattle Area preferred. Senior is the minimum qualification for this role, but we would be delighted to find a Principal Engineer with leadership experience, someone ready to take the reigns of our entire engineering effort. This role will initially fulfill IC responsibilities, with a high potential to mentor earlier-career developers as we grow. You’ll be responsible for leading the charge, iterating upon our current groundbreaking feature set, developing innovative net-new features, and ensuring service health for our users as we scale to greater and ever-greater heights.

Role Description

This is a partner-grade equity-based role for a Senior Mobile App Developer — competitive compensation upon VC funding and/or consistent revenue stream. The individual in this role will work on implementing advanced frontend solutions, developing back-end architecture, and optimizing the performance of scalable mobile applications.

Responsibilities will include collaborating with the CTO and CPO to bring the vision of Octopii to life, troubleshooting technical challenges, and contributing to the development of pioneering features that align with Octopii's mission. You will have the opportunity to make a lasting and meaningful impact to the world through eloquent and robust technical contributions.

Minimum Qualifications

5+ years technical engineering experience (social network development a major plus)
3+ years in mobile application development (utilizing an assortment of sensor datatypes is a plus)
Proficiency in Flutter/Dart, Typescript, JavaScript
Proficiency in REST API development, ensuring secure and scalable communication between systems
Proven ability to maintain high-availability systems
Superb collaboration skills, a kind disposition with excellent soft-skills
No egos — emotional intelligence and conscientiousness are core to our culture
Passion for improving the world through technology

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years in mobile application development (iOS + Android)
Experience with Azure + MongoDB
Experience with Infrastructure as Code
Experience with CI/CD build and release pipelines
Experience implementing up-to-date cryptographic methods
Experience with service telemetry + user analytics

Compensation

This is initially an equity-based role (along with the rest of the Octopii team). Equity will be determined bidirectionally following a trial period in which you have an opportunity to demonstrate your hard-skills and overall presence brought to the team. As a true startup story, we're a "scrappy" team of high performers — but now with the app launched, we’re looking to mature. We want you to be a big part of that maturation. An extraordinary candidate may command mid single digit ownership.

Upon generating revenue we’ll begin to hire the team as FTEs. We endeavor to be a company which offers 4-day workweeks, profit sharing, 401k plans, health/dental insurance, charity-matching, and more!

Despite this initially being an equity-based role, we prefer to find an individual who is available full-time (30+ hrs/wk) — moonlighting is not preferable, although for the right candidate it will be considered.
