The IT Applications Support Engineer is responsible for leading application-related projects from planning through implementation, supporting enterprise software systems, and providing advanced troubleshooting and user support. This role also contributes to IT security, documentation, training, and continuous improvement of system performance and user experience.

Position is remote.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and manage projects through full lifecycle: requirements, scope, schedule, budget, and deployment.

  • Coordinate internal and external resources to meet project goals and timelines.

  • Analyze project progress and adjust plans as needed to meet deliverables.

  • Serve as primary contact for stakeholders on project updates and changes.

  • Troubleshoot application-related issues escalated from the Helpdesk.

  • Maintain software documentation and training materials.

  • Monitor system alerts and respond via ticketing system.

  • Provide user support and training for IT software, including after-hours support.

  • Support IT security initiatives as first-level response.

  • Maintain application performance metrics and configuration change records.

  • Ensure proper operation of enterprise applications and initiate updates or improvements.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • 2+ years of project management experience; PMP or PRINCE2 certification preferred.
  • Experience in application platform development and team coaching.
  • 2+ years working in 24/7/365 enterprise environments.
  • Strong background in networking and cloud-based applications (thin/thick clients).
  • 2+ years of Active Directory experience (GPO, Federated Services, hybrid environments).
  • Experience with Microsoft cloud technologies: Office 365, Exchange Online, Azure, AWS.
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSE, Azure) a plus.
  • Experience with VoIP systems (RingCentral, Nextiva, Zoom).
  • Some travel may be required.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Proficiency with Active Directory, Group Policies, Office 365, Azure AD.
  • Familiarity with 3rd-party applications (EMR, EHR, CRM, ERP).
  • Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users and executives.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong customer service orientation and user support experience.
  • Experience with ticketing systems and tracking service metrics.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy Rules and IT compliance best practices.
  • Current, relevant industry certifications preferred.

Work Environment:

Subject to multiple interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This is a high paced position and can be stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to atmosphere. This person might sometimes experience disagreeable odors, sights and/or unpredictable patient behavior. Work requires spending 90% of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. May be required to travel to locations over multiple days, in and out of state.
