🎮 ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Lead Game Designer to join the OverKnights team — a fast-paced, PvP-focused online card battler currently in open alpha. As Lead Designer, you’ll own core gameplay systems and help shape the creative direction of the game. You’ll work closely with cross-functional squads to design mechanics, balance cards, and drive player engagement while mentoring other designers and supporting the long-term evolution of OverKnights as it transitions to live service.

Location: Remote (Latin America or compatible time zones)
Game: OverKnights – Free-to-Play Online Card Battler (currently in open alpha on Epic Games)
🎯 RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the vision and execution of game mechanics, player progression, and card design.
- Design and iterate on systems including card abilities, energy economy, status effects, tactical flow, and meta-game loops.
- Work with Engineers, Artists, and Producers to bring designs to life across prototypes and live updates.
- Lead design documentation efforts—ensuring clarity, feasibility, and alignment with game goals.
- Drive feature balancing and tuning, using both intuition and data to improve player experience.
- Collaborate with QA and LiveOps to maintain gameplay quality and react to feedback from the community and internal playtests.
- Mentor and guide other designers, fostering a culture of thoughtful iteration and creative excellence.
📚 ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- 4+ years of professional game design experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or senior role.
- Shipped or live-operated at least one online multiplayer or PvP title.
- Shipped or live-operated at least one F2P game.
- Strong understanding of card game mechanics, deckbuilding, turn-based design, and live balancing.
- Deep knowledge of game loops, systems thinking, and player psychology.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills—able to explain complex mechanics clearly across disciplines.
- Comfortable with prototyping and working with Unity, spreadsheets, and internal tools.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal).
💡 BONUS POINTS
- Experience in competitive multiplayer design or digital CCGs/TCGs.
- Familiarity with Web3 systems, ownership mechanics, or NFT-integrated gameplay (not required).
- Experience working on games in early access, open alpha, or frequent patch cycles.
