About the Job
Lead Nysonian's 10-person design team while remaining hands-on in production. This person owns visual quality across ads, campaigns, and marketing assets — translating the VP of Creative's and CMO's vision into fast, high-performing creative that scales profitably.
What They'll Do
- Own all design briefs and creative execution for paid ads, social campaigns, and marketing assets.
- Personally design key assets each week — turning direction from the VP of Creative and CMO into finished creative with taste and precision.
- Lead and mentor a 10-person design team (based remotely), improving their speed, design eye, and execution quality.
- Build and implement design systems and templates that improve team output and consistency.
- Partner closely with the VP of Creative, CMO, and Head of Growth to align design execution with performance goals.
- Introduce structure to design workflows — naming, versioning, templates, automation (AI where useful).
- Maintain a refined brand aesthetic while ensuring creative converts in paid performance environments.

- Creative win rate: % of assets meeting or beating CPA/ROAS benchmarks.
Consistent reduction in turnaround time (brief* final asset).
- Standardized systems that allow design team to move 30–50% faster.
- Improved visual consistency across all brand touchpoints.
Must-Haves (Non-Negotiables)
- 3–5+ years of hands-on graphic design experience in DTC or a performance-focused eCommerce brand/agency.
- Proven ability to create high-performing ad creative
- Expert in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Deep understanding of direct response principles and how visuals drive conversion.
- Strong design taste and marketing eye — can judge what both looks good and sells.
- Experience leading or mentoring designers (2-10).
- Fast, independent executor — can go from idea to final asset quickly.
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Experience with landing pages, email design, or CRO visuals.
- Familiar with Figma or other collaborative design tools.
- Exposure to creative analysis platforms like Atria, Motion, or Foreplay.
- Experience building reusable templates or design systems.
- Familiarity with light motion or animation work.
- Comfortable experimenting with AI-based creative tools (Firefly, Midjourney, etc.).
