Senior Software Engineer – Cloud Infrastructure & Backend Services
Location: Seattle, WA (Hybrid: Tues–Fri Onsite | Mon Remote)
Compensation: $150,000 – $250,000 + Bonus + Equity + Benefits
We are partnering with a high-growth technology company committed to solving critical challenges in public safety, justice, and operational resilience. They're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Virtual Reality (VR) & Cloud Infrastructure team, focusing on the architecture and scalability of mission-critical systems that support real-time and high-availability workloads.

What You’ll Do:
- Lead technical architecture and design reviews, ensuring best-in-class cloud scalability, security, and performance
- Partner with engineering leadership to set high standards across code, design, and operational excellence
- Mentor engineers, driving continuous improvement in system design and engineering best practices
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and cross-functional Engineering teams to solve impactful technical challenges
- Contribute directly to backend service development in modern managed languages (Java, Go, Scala, C#, etc.)
- Build and maintain microservices with a focus on high availability and low-latency performance
- Improve sprint planning, agile practices, and long-term engineering roadmap development
- Leverage open source tools and cloud-native infrastructure to drive speed and reliability across the stack
What You Bring:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of building and scaling complex systems
- Backend development experience with one or more of the following: Java, Go, C#, Scala
- Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS or Azure, including Azure-to-AWS migration experience
- Strong database experience (SQL and NoSQL, especially Cassandra)
- Proven ability to deliver high-availability, scalable cloud-based microservices
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), observability tooling (logging, metrics, APM), and CI/CD automation
- Passion for clean, maintainable code and modern DevOps practices
- Strong cross-functional communication skills and interest in mentoring engineers
- Ability to work onsite in Seattle, WA, Tuesday through Friday (remote Mondays)
Nice to Have:
- Previous experience in mission-critical or safety-related systems
- Exposure to simulation or VR technologies
- Interest in systems that support training, public sector, or civic operations
- Familiarity with containerization, service meshes, and fault-tolerant distributed systems
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary: $150,000 – $250,000 (based on experience and market location)
