Data Scientist

The Data Scientist’s responsibilities will include designing and implementing statistical models and AI algorithms, mining data for insights, and interpreting complex Supply Chain data structures to drive business decision-making.  A good understanding of shipment data, freight invoice data, identifying outliers, anomalies, normalizing data, grouping, trending for analysis is critical.

Our ideal candidate is proficient in using statistical software to interpret data, has a demonstrated background in Supply Chain business domains, and who can devise solutions to business challenges.

The role of the Data Scientist is to decipher large volumes of data and provide compelling insights that influence strategic decisions through the use of statistical models and AI algorithms. This candidate will lead the design of business intelligence solutions, operational process automation tasks, and guide the development and integration of AI solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality
• Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and drive enhancements to in-house business intelligence product.
• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
• Filter and “clean” data by stripping outliers and utilizing statistical methods/AI models to facilitate improved data visibility and decision making.
• Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
• Work on special projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Proven working experience as a Data Scientist with relevant background in a Supply Chain environment.
• Strong knowledge of and experience with business intelligence tools, databases (SQL etc.), and guiding AI model integrations.
• Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (R Statistics, SPSS, SAS, Minitab etc.)
• Knowledge of AI packages and capabilities (Tensorflow, scikit-learn, Keras, GluonTS, Darts, etc.)
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
• Specific experience in guiding the design and implementation of AI models
• Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
• BS in Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics
