The Opportunity

In the Nutanix DB Team, we are tackling the most challenging problems in Database Engine and Service layers that will utilize the full power of Private and Public Clouds (Nutanix Cloud, AWS, Azure, etc.), including cloud-native and Kubernetes-based environments.

About The Team

Nutanix Database Service (NDB) is a DBaaS (Database as a Service) product for on-premise Nutanix customers. The product is expanding to a Hybrid Multi Cloud Solution with a scalable architecture. The NDB engineering team is distributed across Serbia, USA, and India. If the idea of starting small and building big excites you, you will be a good fit for this team. With NDB, you'll find no shortage of challenging problems to work on. We work closely across our team in a collaborative environment that encourages the open exploration of ideas.

Your Role

• Take part in architecting, designing, and building core components of the Nutanix Database Service;
• Experience multi-Cloud development with Nutanix Cloud, AWS, Azure, etc;
• Build a system that can operate thousands of hosted instances for multiple DB kernels: PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, Oracle, and others;
• Use the power of the Open Source to build a system that scales and spans across different clouds and geographies;

What You Will Bring

• 4+ years of developing highly scalable and available software.
• Passion for programming and rock-solid foundation in at least one of the following languages: Java, C, C++, Python, Golang;
• Ability to solve problems related to distributed systems, concurrency, and performance engineering;
• Passion for system design;

Great to have

• Experience in building a scalable cloud service on one of the leading public clouds: AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.
• Experience in either PostgreSQL, MS Sql Server, Oracle, or other Database Engine development;
• Experience in system design and cloud architecture;
• Experience in Open Source project code development;
• A startup experience;

Work Arrangement

Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources.
