Senior Software Engineer (System Architect)

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a fast-growing, product-led technology team focused on transforming the way small businesses experience commercial insurance. You'll be part of a highly collaborative, cross-functional group that builds and operates a suite of modern applications and services.

This is a fully remote role based in Romania, working closely with teams in the United States, where you'll help shape the future of scalable, distributed systems in a dynamic and agile environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Take ownership of backend systems and features, ensuring long-term stability and scalability
• Lead design and architecture discussions, guiding the team on best practices and technical excellence
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers in an open and collaborative process
• Drive improvements in engineering practices and delivery pipelines
• Deliver high-quality code and contribute to large cross-functional initiatives
• Participate in on-call rotations and help improve operational stability
• Write clean, modular, and reusable code aligned with industry standards
• Mentor and support other engineers through code reviews and technical guidance
• Be a voice for backend-related decisions across the organization

What We’re Looking For

• 4+ years of experience building server-side APIs with REST and GraphQL
• Hands-on experience with TypeScript or JavaScript on the backend (bonus: C# knowledge)
• Proven experience building distributed systems in cloud environments (preferably AWS)
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and microservice architecture
• Deep understanding of relational and NoSQL databases
• Experience working in an agile environment with a strong focus on code quality and performance
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
• Ability to work autonomously and bring clarity to ambiguous requirements
• Background in product-led organizations is a strong plus
• A mindset focused on delivering small, continuous improvements
