Senior Machine Learning Engineer / Data Scientist (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a senior profile who can move fluently between scientific rigor (statistical validation) and engineering discipline (productionization on AWS, MLOps, scalability). As a trusted advisor, you will design, build, and operationalize advanced predictive models that directly influence global commercial decisions across Europe, Asia, and Japan.

Key Responsibilities

• Sales Forecasting: Design and maintain demand/sales forecasting models at multiple granularities (SKU, category, channel, market), accounting for seasonality and promotional uplift.
• Promotions Optimization: Build algorithms to quantify promotional effectiveness, estimate price elasticity, and recommend optimal mechanics.
• End-to-End MLOps: Operationalize models on Amazon SageMaker (pipelines, model registry, automated retraining, and drift detection).
• Multi-Market Modeling: Apply advanced hierarchical and transfer-learning techniques to handle heterogeneous markets and intermittent demand.
• Collaboration & Tech Transfer: Work closely with data and business teams to translate complex analytical insights into commercial action.

Required Experience & Skills

• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience building production-grade ML models, with a strong portfolio in forecasting or retail analytics.
• Core ML Frameworks: * Classical: ARIMA/SARIMA, ETS, Holt-Winters.

1. Modern/Boosting: Prophet, GluonTS, Nixtla/MLForecast, XGBoost, LightGBM, CatBoost.
2. Causal Impact: Proven experience modeling price elasticity and causal impact (CausalImpact, DiD, uplift modeling).

• AWS & Engineering: Strong fluency with Amazon SageMaker and Amazon Redshift (or equivalent cloud data warehouses) for feature engineering at scale.
• Language: B2+ English proficiency (written and spoken) to collaborate with distributed international teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience in the fashion, apparel, or highly seasonal retail verticals.
• Exposure to Power BI or similar BI tools.
