Founding Full-Stack Engineer (Junior-mid)

We're Notova, an AI-powered academic workspace helping serious learners work smarter. We're pre-seed, moving fast, and looking for our first engineering hire. This is a founding role. You'll own the entire technical stack and grow into Head of Engineering as we scale. Our team is young, ambitious, and moves fast. Open to juniors and mid-level candidates.
Who We're Looking For
- Recent CS grad or 1 to 2 years of experience, juniors and mid-level both welcome
- Strong fundamentals with shipped projects or startup experience
- Genuine fluency with AI coding tools, Claude Code, Cursor, and similar workflows
- Clear communicator with non-technical founders and designers
- Eager to own technical direction, pitch solutions, and move fast
What You'll Do
- Audit and refactor an AI-built codebase, make it production-solid
- Ship new features directly alongside the founder and product designer
- Have full context on every product decision from day one
- Lead technical direction and strategy for an AI-native web app
Stack
React, TypeScript, Node/Express, PostgreSQL, Supabase, Railway, Stripe, multi-provider AI APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google AI)
Compensation and Reality
We're closing our pre-seed round in August/September 2026. Between now and close, this role is part-time and equity. We're being upfront about that because we're looking for someone committed to the mission and early-stage environment of a pre-seed startup.
Once we close pre-seed, salary kicks in and starts at $2,000-$3,000/month with meaningful founding equity. This salary is intentional to match our founding team and scales directly with funding/growth milestones.
