Position Overview
The Senior Data Scientist is a high-impact, individual contributor role responsible for applying advanced analytical and modeling techniques to drive strategy within our core business and commercial operations. You will act as a key analytical partner to leadership across the organization, tackling complex challenges in areas like client activation, client churn, and business performance. This role is ideal for an experienced data scientist who thrives on solving ambiguous problems and translating data into actionable, bottom-line impact.
Key Responsibilities
Predictive Modeling & Advanced Analysis
- Architect and own sophisticated models to solve our most critical commercial challenges, from mitigating client churn and activating clients to member onboarding and engagement.
- Conduct deep-dive analyses to identify the root causes of business challenges and present strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
- Partner with department leaders to define, measure, and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), building and maintaining advanced dashboards in Looker that provide actionable insights.
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead complex, cross-functional data projects from initial scoping and analysis through to final recommendations and implementation.
- Autonomously tackle ambiguous business problems, turning them into clear, data-driven project plans with a high degree of accuracy and quality.
Strategic Partnership & Communication
- Serve as a trusted data partner for our Commercial teams, building a deep understanding of their challenges and objectives.
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear, compelling narratives that influence senior-level decision-making.
- Advocate for data quality best practices, collaborating with stakeholders to improve data instrumentation and validation at the point of collection.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a data science or data analytics role.
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related discipline; Master's degree is a plus.
- Deep expertise in SQL and statistical programming (e.g., Python, R).
- Proven experience with statistical and predictive modeling techniques (e.g., regression, classification, forecasting) and their practical application to business problems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex analytical projects from start to finish with a high degree of autonomy.
- Experience working with and contributing to data pipelines (ETL/ELT), partnering with data engineering to ensure data quality.
- Extensive experience with a modern BI tool like Looker or Tableau.
- Strong business acumen and a passion for solving real-world operational problems.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting complex findings to senior leadership.
- Must reside in the US.
