Nexus Nova Innovation, an innovative early-stage startup, is seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our team. This is an exceptional opportunity to play a critical role in the development of groundbreaking urban mobility solutions.
We are creating the world's first commercially viable hovercar, the Nexus One, and are looking for a software engineer passionate about vehicle control systems, sensor integration, and autonomous technology.
We’re not interested in degrees, titles, or how many years you’ve spent sitting in meetings. We care about your talent, your ability to solve problems nobody’s solved, and your obsession with making machines smarter, faster, and more capable than anyone thought possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and build real-time flight control systems that keep a multi-axis hovercar stable, responsive, and razor-sharp under various conditions.
- Engineer sensor fusion algorithms that make sense of data from LiDAR, radar, cameras, IMUs, GPS, etc.
- Design and test the core vehicle intelligence layer, blending control theory, perception, and autonomy into one seamless system.
- Work directly with mechanical and aerospace teams to create an important software-hardware connection.
- Contribute to our autonomy roadmap, helping to future-proof the vehicle for advanced navigation, obstacle detection, and decision-making.
- Build test environments that simulate reality so well we forget it’s not real — then break everything, fix it, and make it better.
- Own your code, your systems, and your outcomes — from whiteboard to real-world flight.
Qualifications:
- No degree required. Show us what you’ve built, what you can do, and why you’re capable.
- Proven mastery in software development for control systems, robotics, flight dynamics, or advanced vehicles.
- Deep experience with real-time software development (C/C++, Python, or similar).
- Expertise with sensor integration — the more sensors, the better.
- Strong understanding of control theory, vehicle dynamics, and multi-axis stabilization.
- (Plus) Direct experience with autonomous navigation systems, including perception, localization, and planning.
- (Plus) Hands-on experience with simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, Gazebo, etc.).
- Built-in obsession with solving the unsolvable.
Compensation:
This is an unpaid position initially. However, if our current investment round is successfully secured, a competitive salary of $140,000-$180,000 will follow with potential for performance-based bonuses, we are always open to negotiation. This position may eventually become an on-site or hybrid position as we progress, we are open to discussing options.
When Applying:
Show us your work, projects you’ve built, systems you’ve designed, and problems you’ve solved. Tell us why you want to help Nexus Nova Innovations bring the world’s first hovercar to life.`
