Part-Time UI Designer

NextSense is a consumer health and wellness startup using clinically validated sensor technology to restore energy, joy, and purpose to daily life. Based in Mountain View, CA, the company has developed a biosensing smartbud platform for enhancing sleep at night and energy throughout the day.

About the Role

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Junior UI Designer to join our team on a part-time contract basis. You’ll be working primarily on our mobile app UI for a sensor-enabled wellness product, translating concepts into clear, visually polished designs within our existing design system. While your focus will be on visual design, there may be opportunities for light UX work such as refining user flows or creating low-fidelity wireframes.

This role is ideal for someone with professional experience in UI design who enjoys bringing ideas to life in a fast-moving startup environment. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other designers to ensure every design decision supports both user needs and our product vision.

Key Responsibilities

• Create high-quality mobile app UI designs within the established design system, while contributing new components as needed.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other designers to ensure seamless handoff from design to development.
• Translate requirements and feedback into clear, consistent visual solutions.
• Contribute to product iterations and improvements based on internal testing and feedback.
• Maintain visual consistency across app screens and features.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional UI design experience, with a strong portfolio showcasing mobile app work.
• Proficiency in Figma.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver polished designs quickly.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
• Startup experience is a plus.
• Experience in health tech, wearables, or consumer apps is a plus.
