As an iOS Software Engineer at Nextdoor, you’ll join a focused team of Developers, Product Managers, and Designers who are passionate about using technology to cultivate a kinder world where everyone has a neighbor they can rely on. We are a small team of mobile engineers that work on app infrastructure and features to deliver our values to our members. The Impact You’ll Make

We believe in empowering our teams to own all aspects of bringing Nextdoor to life. As such, you’ll get the opportunity to make key contributions across our iOS stack - this includes developing and improving our networking, analytics, experiments, and modular app structure, in addition to making direct contributions to your team’s product area.

Beyond day-to-day technical work, you’ll also get the chance to collaborate with product managers and designers to drive Nextdoor forward. We believe engineers should have a stake over all aspects of the product - from coming up with the next big ideas to build, through helping set expectations and plan roadmaps, all the way through understanding the impact of new features through rigorous data analysis. As your career at Nextdoor develops, you’ll also get the chance to mentor other team members and grow your role towards what you’re most passionate about.

  • Participate in in-person Nextdoor events such as trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and team building exercises
  • Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to Nextdoor’s company culture

What You’ll Bring To The Team

  • 3+ Years of experience in a mobile development role with a proven track record shipping and owning non-trivial iOS features in production.
  • Expertise in Swift and Xcode IDE including the build system
  • Robust knowledge of iOS development ecosystem, including core system libraries
  • Proven experience building complex, high-quality iOS applications, and strong knowledge of iOS app design principles, architectural patterns, testing, and best practices
  • Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly in writing (design docs, PR reviews, etc.) and verbally (cross-functional syncs)
  • Strong motivation to continuously learn and share knowledge about new technologies and systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing high-impact work and adapting strategies in real time.
  • Thoughtful use of AI tooling in day-to-day engineering - knows when it helps and when it gets in the way.

Bonus Points

  • Experience writing automated tests for iOS applications
  • Experience with accessibility features on iOS

Rewards

Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create our total rewards package. Compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications. Compensation may also vary by geography.

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $142,000 - $250,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role.

We expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With quarterly vesting, your first vest date will take place within 3 months of your start date.
