About The Role

Vanguard is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join its talented team and contribute to building innovative digital experiences that enhance Financial Advisor Services. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and scaling native mobile applications that utilize modern cloud, AI, and data capabilities. Your work will directly impact how financial advisors engage with their clients, providing them with insights and productivity tools that streamline their workflows. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to create secure, high-performance solutions that achieve meaningful business outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for technology, a strong background in mobile development, and a strategic mindset to drive continuous improvement in application performance and user experience.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of eight years of relevant work experience, including at least two years dedicated to software development. A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience is required; a graduate degree is preferred. Proven expertise in designing and developing cross-platform applications using React Native is essential, along with experience building cloud-native applications and services utilizing AWS and serverless technologies. Candidates should have a solid understanding of native iOS capabilities, Apple frameworks, and third-party SDKs integration within React Native applications. Advanced proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with a focus on maintainable, type-safe codebases, is necessary. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to learn new technologies quickly, and excellent communication skills are critical for success in this role. Experience with mobile/web development frameworks, micro-service architecture, and project delivery for large cross-team projects will be highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable mobile application features that meet business and user needs.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and platform teams to deliver intuitive and high-quality mobile experiences.
• Continuously improve application performance, responsiveness, reliability, and maintainability through best practices and innovative solutions.
• Translate user stories into technical design and code, developing well-engineered code and automated test artifacts to ensure quality.
• Manage the deployment of code into development, testing, and production environments, providing ongoing support and documentation for change control processes.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff, sharing expertise in software development methodologies and architecture standards.
• Communicate complex technical issues effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Research and implement contemporary software development techniques to enhance team velocity and product quality.
• Ensure all deliverables comply with Vanguard's Information Technology and Information Security policies and standards.
