I am on the hunt for a Data Scientist who’s passionate about learner modelling, knowledge tracing and rigorous model evaluation to join our forward-thinking research team.

We are looking for a hands-on Data Scientist with the development and evaluation of predictive models that understand and forecast learning patterns identifying knowledge levels, misconceptions and progress over time.

You'll design simulations, benchmark models and work with real-world datasets to ensure our adaptive pathways are accurate and impactful.

This role is not just a research role we want someone who will engineer as well!

What You’ll Do:

• Develop and improve knowledge tracing models (e.g., IRT, BN, BKT, DKT, AKT)
• Run simulations to test model behavior across varied learner profiles
• Compare models using key metrics like AUC, F1 score, and overall accuracy
• Design and test new model architectures using synthetic and real learning data
• Simulate adaptive learning pathways and evaluate recommendation algorithms
• Build and validate ML models that assess content effectiveness and curriculum impact
• Support live deployments and collaborate with product teams on experimentation

Tech Skills

• Master’s degree/PhD in Data Science, Machine Learning, AI, or a related discipline
• Machine Learning
• Python
• Experience with Monte Carlo simulation or similar simulations would be an advantage
