About Us – Scaling the Future of Fractional Ownership
Experiential Squared (E2) is pioneering fractional ownership in sports and beyond. Our flagship platform, MyRacehorse (MRH), is the largest fractional thoroughbred ownership platform in the world, with 100,000+ passionate owners and over 200 race wins, including the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Breeders’ Cup Classic.
We are at a pivotal moment, scaling beyond horse racing and simultaneously elevating the MRH platform. We're enhancing community tools, integrating deep data insights (speed figures, pedigree analysis, race replays), launching a secondary market, and modernizing our entire tech stack. To do this, we need a technical cornerstone—an engineer who will take deep ownership of our platform's evolution.
The Role – Own Our Technical Foundation
This is not a management role. This is a role for a master builder. As our first Staff/Principal Software Engineer, you will be the most senior technical individual contributor on the team. You will be the go-to expert for our most complex challenges, responsible for architectural decisions, code quality, and the overall health of our platform. You will spend the majority of your time writing and architecting code, mentoring other engineers, and setting the technical vision for our products.
Your Mission (Responsibilities):
● Tame the Legacy: Own the strategy for refactoring and modernizing our legacy codebase. You won't just be assigned tickets; you'll identify architectural debt, design pragmatic solutions, and write clean, scalable code to improve performance and maintainability.
● Master the Backend Integration: Architect and optimize the integrations between our frontend platform and the Magento (PHP) backend. Design robust and efficient APIs (GraphQL/REST) to ensure data flows seamlessly and securely.
● Champion Security and Scalability: Implement and advocate for security best practices across the entire platform, ensuring we meet and exceed the standards required for compliance and cyber insurance. Design systems that are built to scale with our growing user base.
● Build What's Next: Take a leading role in designing and building major new features, including our upcoming secondary marketplace and sophisticated data integration products.
● Elevate the Team: Act as a technical mentor for other engineers through thoughtful code reviews, pair programming, and creating clear technical documentation. You will help establish and champion engineering best practices that raise the bar for the entire team.
Who You Are (Qualifications):
● A Proven Senior Engineer: You have significant experience as a Senior, Staff, or Principal Software Engineer, with a track record of owning large, complex projects from concept to completion.
● One or more of the following:
● An Architect and a Builder: You are as comfortable designing system architecture and data models as you are writing elegant, production-grade code. You don’t just build; you build things the right way.
● Passionate About Ownership: You thrive in an environment where you are given the autonomy to take ownership of a problem space and deliver outstanding results. You think like an owner of the product and the codebase.
● A Data-Driven and AI-Savvy Thinker: You're excited by the challenge of unlocking the value in our unique user and horse data. You are interested in AI-assisted development and automation to enhance the effectiveness of our team.
Why Join Us?
● Be the Technical Cornerstone: This is a chance to be the foundational engineering leader at a rapidly growing company, with immense impact on our technical direction.
● Massive Impact: We’re not just expanding—we’re elevating an entire industry. Your work will be in the hands of a huge, passionate, and engaged community.
● Solve Hard Problems: From modernizing a legacy stack to building a first-of-its-kind secondary market, you'll be tackling challenging and rewarding technical problems every day.
● Shape the Future: Your vision will directly influence the future of fractional ownership, not just in horse racing, but in sports and entertainment globally.
