Senior Software Engineer, Payments

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Payments team, you’ll own the systems that move, track, and reconcile every dollar flowing through our marketplace. You’ll design the financial backbone of modern freight, building real-time payments, settlements, wallets, and reporting across a high-velocity logistics network.

You’ll partner directly with Product, Finance, Operations, and company leadership to architect financial infrastructure that demands absolute precision, reliability, and scale. This is not a maintenance role; it’s deep, hands-on engineering at the intersection of fintech and logistics.

What You’ll Do

• Engineer and evolve the financial infrastructure that powers our payments, settlements, reporting, and ERP systems.
• Partner with our Data and AI teams to architect first-of-its-kind automation workflows that ingest, interpret, and reconcile large volumes of financial documents with minimal human intervention.
• Build and maintain deep integrations with modern payment processors and enterprise finance platforms, ensuring reliable, high-fidelity data flows across the business.
• Collaborate across engineering, product, finance, and operations to design financial workflows that are fast, precise, and resilient under scale.
• Identify and eliminate system bottlenecks, operational risks, and data quality issues before they become problems.
• Build internal tools, dashboards, and automations that give our finance and ops teams superhuman visibility and control.
• Lead deep dives into data accuracy, systems reliability, and performance optimization to ensure every transaction is accounted for.
• Stay current with fintech, payments, and ERP innovations and bring practical, forward-looking solutions into our stack.

What You Bring

• 4+ years of experience building, scaling, or maintaining financial systems where accuracy and reliability are non-negotiable.
• A strong understanding of accounting concepts, financial data models, and reporting workflows.
• Solid engineering fundamentals — you think in data structures, algorithms, and system design as naturally as you think in dollars and cents.
• Exceptional analytical instincts; you dig until the root cause is clear and the system’s behavior makes sense end to end.
• Clear, thoughtful communication and a collaborative mindset that helps teams execute quickly and confidently.
• Experience with payment processors (i.e. stripe), ERP systems (i.e. netsuite), or financial integrations is a plus.
• Familiarity with EDI is helpful but not required.
