Montash is currently supporting a leading online marketplace in hiring a Senior or Lead Data Scientist for a high-impact, long-term project. This role focuses on optimising search and ranking algorithms using Learning to Rank (LTR) frameworks and modern ML techniques. You’ll play a key part in shaping the platform’s long-term search strategy—balancing relevance, personalisation, and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and optimise LTR models (e.g. XGBoost, LightGBM)
• Develop and refine ranking logic across marketplace features
• Implement fairness, bias mitigation, and personalisation strategies
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team to evolve the search ecosystem

Tech Stack: Python, Elasticsearch/SOLR, AWS (optional)

You'll be joining a collaborative team of Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and Product Managers working on one of the organisation’s most strategic initiatives.
