Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Software Engineer with expertise in COBOL programming to join our Financial Paper Products team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and modernizing mission-critical applications built on COBOL, while also collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate with newer technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

· Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL applications on mainframe systems (e.g., IBM z/OS).

· Analyze and troubleshoot issues in existing COBOL codebases.

· Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

· Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.

· Assist in the migration of legacy systems to modern platforms when applicable.

· Document system processes, data flows, and technical specifications.

· Provide support for production systems, including on-call rotation if required.

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).

· 3+ years of experience in COBOL programming (COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM).

· Experience with mainframe environments such as IBM z/OS.

· Familiarity with databases such as DB2 or IMS.

· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

· Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with modernization tools or strategies (e.g., Micro Focus COBOL, API integration).

· Knowledge of other programming languages such as Java, Python, or .NET.

· Familiarity with Agile or DevOps methodologies.

· Experience in financial services.
