Role Mission

To elevate production reliability for mission-critical payment infrastructure by applying senior Scala engineering expertise to achieve unparalleled system stability and performance on the Canton Network.

What You'll Do

• Support and elevate the standard of mission-critical, heavily loaded payment services running under real SLAs.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues end-to-end, including code modifications, infrastructure configuration adjustments, and performance/network analysis.
• Develop reusable tools and automation from one-off fixes to efficiently manage production services.
• Establish and champion reliability as a core engineering discipline through SLOs, error budgets, and blameless postmortems.
• Provide engineering direction for reliability across the team, defining best practices and implementation strategies.
• Anchor production response in your time zone, ensuring rapid and effective incident resolution.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years in senior Scala engineering roles supporting mission-critical payments production systems.
• Senior Scala individual contributor, focused on software engineering rather than DevOps.

Great to Have

• Deep production diagnosis skills, including JVM behavior under load, performance analysis, and network analysis.
• Demonstrated real operational responsibility, including on-call duties, incident management, and adherence to SLAs.
• Systematic reliability practice, including the habitual use of SLOs, error budgets, and postmortems.
• Independent individual-contributor working style, capable of scoping, deciding, and shipping without external blockers.

Bonus Points

• Experience building wallet or fiat on/off-ramp infrastructure.
• Blockchain or distributed-ledger experience.
• Functional programming depth beyond Scala (e.g., Haskell-family languages like DAML).
• Fluency in infrastructure and observability tooling, with a developer-first mindset.
