Lead Data Scientist – EdTech

A leading EdTech company is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to help shape the future of learning by turning complex data into meaningful insights that drive innovation, improve student outcomes, and elevate the learning experience.
This is a high-impact role that bridges data science, machine learning, and product strategy, with a focus on delivering actionable, scalable solutions that serve educators and students nationwide.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, build, and deploy machine learning models to support key objectives like learning efficacy, user engagement, and product optimization
- Analyze structured and unstructured data sets to extract insights and guide product decisions
- Collaborate with engineering, product, content, and assessment teams to define data-driven opportunities
- Support AI and ML strategy in collaboration with product and executive leadership
- Translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Work with data engineers to build and maintain robust data pipelines and integrations
- Develop dashboards and visualizations that communicate key trends and learning outcomes
- Contribute to an evolving AI roadmap that aligns with broader organizational goals
- Stay up to date on modern tools and techniques in machine learning and generative AI
- Balance experimentation with practical deployment to ensure real-world impact
- Perform other duties as needed in support of strategic initiatives
What You Bring:
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in a hands-on data science role (preferably with applied ML models in production)
- Expertise in Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow), R, and SQL
- Familiarity with cloud-based big data tools such as Spark, Snowflake, Hive, or AWS Redshift
- Strong background in statistical modeling, forecasting, and classification methods
- Experience building and communicating visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and prioritize strategic goals
- Eagerness to translate models and insights into real-world education products
- A passion for driving measurable outcomes in K–12 education through technology
