Description

MNS Engineers, Inc. (MNS) is a fast-growing profitable multi-service infrastructure consulting firm offering planning, construction management, civil engineering, and surveying services throughout California. With nine offices throughout California, the Company has provided services to the transportation, water resources, government services, and federal markets for over 60 years. We are well positioned in the marketplace, and on a trajectory to continue our geographic services expansion.

MNS is hiring a Project Manager to apply technical skills and leadership of planning, design and management of transportation projects and related infrastructure for clients in the public sector.

This position will be primarily remote with occasional travel to meet our client needs in California. Candidates must reside in the state of California and be willing and able to accommodate in person meetings along the Central Coast.

Summary Of Position

  • Develops broad knowledge and skills with a focus on transportation projects for public clients (roadway Geometrics, ADA Ramps, Grading – Feature Lines, Grading Groups, Surfaces)
  • Performs engineering calculations and prepares detailed design drawings and specifications (Construction Quantities, Earthwork – Volume Surfaces)
  • Gathers information, develops, and evaluates alternatives, and prepares engineering reports (Cost Comparisons, Geometric Alternatives – Alignments/Profiles, Cross Sections)
  • Interacts with clients, local and remote MNS staff, permitting agencies and other consulting firms in the execution of engineering projects.
  • Supports project management activities associated with the planning and execution of municipal engineering projects.
  • Supports local efforts and teams identifying, pursuing, and winning new projects and work.
  • Develops broad knowledge and skills in a specific practice area.
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features.
  • Collaboratively uses judgment to determine adaptations in methods for non-routine aspects of assignments.
  • Works on small projects or portions of larger projects
  • Assigns tasks to and coordinates work with entry-level engineers, technicians, or administrative staff.
  • Assists in determining schedule and budget requirements.
  • Receives direction on unconventional and/or complex problems, and possible solutions.
  • Receives a thorough review of completed work for application of sound professional judgment.
  • Performs review of other engineering products
  • Travels frequently to work sites and client locations to meet with clients to review project requirements and work in progress.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

M_INIMUM EDUCATION, LICENSURE, OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program
  • California Professional Engineer License required
  • Proficient with Autodesk Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license and be insurable by the insurance carrier

Minimum Experience Required

  • 6+ years of transportation design experience

Other Required Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Interacts with staff, general public, officials, and contractors.
  • Assists with client, customer, or official contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments or meetings.
  • Prepares draft design reports under direction of senior staff.
