Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Orlando, Florida, is seeking a PMO Project Manager I.
Summary
Acts as a single point of contact on behalf of Mitsubishi responsible for managing and coordinating all phases of a Mitsubishi project including but not limited to conceptual stages, commercial, negotiations, planning, engineering, procurement, construction, start-up, performance testing, initial operations, and prime contract close-out.
Responsible for leading and managing project team by assisting product lines in expanding current work scope, developing proposal technical and pricing strategies and preparing proposal execution strategies/plans as well as supporting customer communications and presentations. Supervises the development of budgets and schedules, manages performance, reports progress, and initiates action to assure program/project goals, objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within budget and according to specifications.
Coordinates, leads and maintains a high performance project team to ensure the project is delivered on time, of the highest quality & safety standards, as well as ensuring the Program/Project is executed within contract requirements and to Customer’s and Mitsubishi’s performance expectations.
Contributes input to and participates in Project Management Office (PMO) development efforts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for project delivery, profit & loss accountability, and customer satisfaction through management of project related activities and resources.
- Serves as the single point of contact for Mitsubishi. Coordinate customer meetings, design reviews, conference calls, negotiations, project updates, factory visits, and all interaction between customer(s) and Mitsubishi.
- Provides technical, commercial and strategic support for sales negotiations. Assist with proposal development by supporting project walk-down(s), estimating, and other activities of proposal creation.
- Receives turnover from Sales Lead and assume project lead role for executable orders. Acts as single point contact on behalf of Mitsubishi for all aspects of project including planning, engineering, procurement, execution, invoicing, and other project activities.
- Develops an integrated, overall project schedule identifying critical path necessary to successfully implement the project. Ensures scheduled milestones and assigned resources are executing as planned. Provides tracking and reporting to plan, creates contingency plans and works with project teams on implementation of recovery plans as necessary.
- Develop and maintain good working relationship with customers through frequent communications and responsive support. Establishes partnerships with other departments and organizations commitment to the project. Develops and maintains constructive and cooperative interpersonal working relationships with customers and others.
- Leads others and directs all phases of assigned projects by utilizing program and project methodologies, systems, tools and quality standards as defined by Mitsubishi in developing project plans and deliverables that meet identified requirements. Develops and maintains project organization structure including Responsibility, Authority, and Accountability (RAAs) of each team engaged on the project.
- Coordinate and monitor contact deliverables while identifying special or specific contract requirements. Monitor, report and facilitate project financials and status with project teams, stakeholder, sponsors, and senior level management. Prepares and participates in risk assessment & mitigation. Analyzes project performance measures to determine options and appropriate actions to increase project performance. Coordinates and provides cost reporting and analysis on a regular scheduled basis.
- Monitors, tracks, and controls change to the projects through formal change control management process.
- Captures and documents all lessons learned or after action review comments and provides summary briefings as necessary.
- Contributes input to and participates in Project Management Office (PMO) development efforts. PMO development consists of creation, improvement, and expansion of PM methodology, tools, training, reporting capabilities, cross-functional DOR clarity and gap analyses. The PMO shall work across PGS departments to collectively raise PM competency and project execution excellence for the business division.
- Continuously seeks to expand and improve personal knowledge in the area of project management best practices and participates in and promotes the development and adoption of new processes or changes to existing processes within MPSA that continue to mature the program/project management discipline.
- Establishes alliances with other departments and organizations by recognizing dependencies in order to assess potential partnership and commitment to the project. Develops and maintains constructive and cooperative interpersonal working relationships with others.
- Provides feedback and performance assessments to appropriate management in a timely manner and addresses and helps resolve conflict among project team members.
- Analyzes project performance measures to determine options and appropriate actions to increase project performance. Coordinates and provides cost reporting and analysis on a regular schedule.
- Continuously seeks to expand and improve personal knowledge in the area of project management best practices and participates in and promotes the development and adoption of new processes or changes to existing processes within Mitsubishi that continue to mature the program/project management discipline.
Other Duties And Responsibilities
- Monitors all project activity including schedules, spending and related items to ensure timely and quality completion of assigned projects. Notifies manager of any situations that would have a significant impact on the completion date, cost or quality.
- Prepares, completes or reviews all project reports to ensure accuracy. Provides project status report, financial reports and project schedules in accordance with company guidelines on timeliness and completeness of information.
- Facilitates weekly project status meeting with owner, owners rep, vendors, subcontractors and others connected with the project. Prepares and distributes meeting minutes indicating agreements reached, task assignments and related information.
- Conduct internal staff meetings to disseminate appropriate company and project information. Ensures that all staff is informed of needed information, policies and expectations regarding safety and related regulations.
- Perform final review of construction on projects to include review of bid documents, review of bid procedures, review of vendor and subcontractor qualifications, review of final estimates, labor and material takeoffs and related information.
- Notify subcontractors of bid approval and award jobs to same. Notify unsuccessful subcontractors and provide appropriate reasoning as needed. Procure all materials for the project in accordance with established procurement policies and procedures.
- Review subcontractor and vendor invoices throughout the lifecycle of the project and approve for payment or negotiate appropriate changes with subcontractor.
- Follow up with the client as needed to ensure timely payment of fees and other payments. Provide timely and accurate information to accounting to ensure proper invoice preparation to client.
- Prepare and submit change orders for approval of client and Director of Projects.
- Prepare and submit invoices to accounting for final billing. Ensure subcontractors are notified of all change order documentation.
- Prepare all project close out documentation including submittal of all warranty information, affidavits, record drawings, final retainage payments, releases and accounting related documents.
- Ensure final payments are received from client and appropriate invoices are paid to subcontractors. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with architect, engineers and other vendors along with client, building representatives, subcontractors and others who are on the project team.

- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering from four-year college or university; and Four (4) plus years related experience in managing power generation projects. PMP certification is desired and can take place of 2 years of experience, but not mandatory.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of computer-aided design, database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
