Job Summary
The Product Design Director, Digital leads the vision and execution of design strategies that shape impactful, user-centric products. This role bridges business objectives with creative solutions, guiding cross-functional teams to deliver compelling user experiences. The director oversees the product design lifecycle, from concept to launch, ensuring alignment with market needs, client objectives and company goals. They champion design led methodologies, foster a culture of innovation, and collaborate with executive leadership to drive product success and business growth through strategic design initiatives.
Who We’re Looking For
- Product Design Direction: Drives the design direction and strategy for our clients. They envision, articulate and produce the overall design aesthetic, ensuring that it aligns with the brand identity, customer goals, company objectives, and development deliverables.
- Team Management: This design leader leads and manages the digital product design team, including hiring and mentoring the digital product design team members. They foster a collaborative and creative work environment, encouraging innovation and growth within the team.
- Project Oversight: They oversee digital design projects from conception to completion, ensuring that they meet the required standards of quality and functionality. This involves managing time deadlines, resources, and budgets and coordinating with other teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborates with stakeholders from different departments, such as client services, engineering/development, and product management. They work closely with these teams to understand their requirements and translate them into effective design solutions.
- User Experience (UX) Design: A crucial aspect of the role is ensuring that the UX is at the forefront of all design decisions. Champions design skills and principles to gain insights into user behavior, preferences, and pain points.
- Design Standards and Guidelines: They work to establish and maintain design standards, guidelines, and best practices across the organization and its clients. This ensures consistency and coherence in all design outputs, promoting a strong and recognizable brand identity.
- Continuous Improvement: Stays updated with design skills and trends, tools, and technologies. They encourage continuous learning and skill development within the design team, fostering a culture of innovation and staying ahead of industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement product design deliverables aligned with business objectives with a hands on approach
- Lead and mentor a team of digital product designers, fostering creativity and professional growth
- Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and Client Services to ensure cohesive product development
- Drive initiatives to inform design decisions and alignment of client goals
- Establish design processes, standards, and best practices
- Present product design strategies to internal and external executive leadership and stakeholders
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in product design
- Develop design standards, systems and philosophies for our digital products that will differentiate us from our competitors
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience developing digital product experiences
- 5+ years of experience in cross-functional teams within an agency or consulting company
- 3+ years experience managing financials for a department or product(s) over $10M
- 3+ years experience managing and developing product design teams
- Proven track record of innovation in digital product design
- Expert proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Figma, Sketch, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Advanced skills in prototyping digital product experiences in Figma
- Demonstrated experience in creating and implementing design systems at scale
- Strong understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and their impact on design feasibility
- Proficiency in data visualization and the ability to translate complex data into actionable design insights
- Advanced knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and experience in designing for inclusive user experiences
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain design pattern libraries and style guides
- Strategic, technical and implementation experience with Design Systems
- Excellent ability to adapt and drive processes for digital product design through product development and ongoing support of digital product lifecycle of enhancements and maintenance
- Expert knowledge of cross-functional team collaboration and project management tools
- Responds positively and constructively to client and peer feedback

COMPENSATION: $100,000 - $120,000 DOE
