The Role
The Director of Growth will own the company’s entire customer acquisition strategy and execution. This role requires a proven growth operator who can work autonomously against aggressive revenue and CAC targets, build and lead a high-performing team, and collaborate closely with retention leadership to create a seamless customer journey from first click to repeat purchase.
This role reports directly to the CEO and is accountable for scaling the acquisition engine efficiently and profitably.
Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Planning & Goal Setting
- Develop and continuously refine the acquisition strategy aligned with monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts
- Define KPIs, budget allocations, and performance benchmarks across all acquisition channels and campaigns
- Map and maintain customer personas and use cases to guide offer, creative, and campaign strategy
- Own the annual promotional calendar, including key sales moments and campaign pillars
2. Campaign & Tactic Development
- Generate, evaluate, and prioritize new acquisition tactics and offers
- Write test hypotheses, define success metrics, and outline scope, assets, and timelines
- Lead creative concepting and approve messaging, visual direction, and asset production
- Oversee landing page builds, tracking, attribution frameworks, and testing environments
- Ensure clear separation between testing initiatives and core operations for accurate reporting
3. Execution & Optimization
- Launch acquisition campaigns, promotions, and MVP tests on time and within budget
- Monitor daily and weekly KPIs (revenue, ROAS, CVR, AOV, CAC, etc.) and make rapid, data-driven optimizations
- Communicate performance insights, wins, and challenges to stakeholders in real time
- Maintain visibility into costs, timelines, and ROI across all initiatives
4. Evaluation & Scaling Decisions
- Analyze test results against success criteria and historical benchmarks
- Determine when to scale, refine, or sunset tactics based on performance and ROI
- Conduct competitive research and margin analysis to inform pricing and promotional strategy
- Document learnings and maintain a library of proven growth playbooks
5. Operationalizing Wins
- Transition winning initiatives to the core growth team with clear SOPs, templates, and resourcing plans
- Allocate budgets and team bandwidth to support successful scaling
- Archive creative assets, performance data, and insights for future use
6. Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with creative, analytics, operations, and retention teams
- Ensure acquisition efforts align with retention and broader business priorities
- Provide the CEO with concise, actionable performance reporting and strategic recommendations
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performance acquisition team
About You
- 5+ years of experience scaling DTC eCommerce brands, ideally from mid–7 figures to 8+ figures
- Proven experience managing and optimizing multi-million-dollar acquisition budgets
- Deep expertise in paid social, paid search, affiliate/partnership marketing, influencer activations, and emerging channels
- Strong analytical mindset with mastery of core eCommerce metrics and attribution frameworks
- Experience building and leading high-performing teams
- Comfortable operating autonomously and being directly accountable to aggressive growth targets
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
