Position Overview

The Brand Manager is the business/P&L owner responsible for key brand segments to help MegaFood achieve short and long-term company growth and profit objectives. The position leads business and marketplace assessments to execute initiatives that drive consumer penetration, develop awareness and conversion driving go-to-market plans, and help build consumer advocacy for the MegaFood brand. Additionally, the position is the 5P strategy owner, including claims and product renovation recommendations, and serving up segment specific innovation opportunities. This position will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure the brand & segments remain relevant to consumers and that all activities support brand and segment priorities.

Essential Function & Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy:

  • Develop consumer-relevant, annual marketing plans which contribute to sales, profit, and brand health objectives and execute for assigned brand segments.
  • Leverage knowledge of consumer, category, and brand to continually identify and recommend business-building initiatives which deliver against the company's business and marketing objectives.
  • Develop commercial plans to drive conversion, including digital advertising, social, PR, Ecomm, and shopper marketing in partnership with Integrated Marketing, Shopper Marketing and Ecomm leads.

Research & Analytics

  • Lead or conduct routine analysis of the brand, key initiative, competition, category, customer, and consumer. Synthesize key findings and indications which enhance brand and company performance.
  • Lead and assist with insight-gathering research that collects consumer and competitive knowledge to enhance and evolve the brand's development, promotional acceptance, and communication evolution.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of internal brand metrics, such as sales and profit, and Omni-Channel sales performance to contribute to sales projections and financial planning.

Product/Portfolio Management

  • Responsible for meeting the full portfolio P&L.
  • Lead SKU and portfolio management, including rationalization, sizing changes, and other actions to reduce complexity, strengthen margin and topline growth for segments.
  • Evaluate portfolio and marketplace to develop strategic recommendations for line extensions and innovation to ensure MegaFood’s penetration growth and strengthen brand equity.
  • Leads the identification of product renovation opportunities in partnership with R&D, Nutrition Science, Regulatory, and Operations focused on formulation improvements to enhance product proposition and consumer satisfaction (repeat).
  • Lead, in partnership with Innovation and IMC Lead, new item GTM plans and integrated marketing support.

Brand/Customer Support

  • Communicate regularly with the Retail Sales and Ecomm Sales to ensure that marketing programs are properly implemented and drive synergies with Channel priorities.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Field Sales to stay close to retail needs and insights.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

  • 5-8 years of directly related Brand Management experience in a Consumer Packaged Goods company. MBA preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Vitamins and Supplement experience mandatory; Natural Products experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience working across trade channels (Grocery, Drug, Mass, Natural, Specialty, E-Commerce). Experience with Amazon and direct-to-consumer sales is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse cross-functional teams, with the ability to impactfully motivate and lead.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in driving the P&L and delivering business insights from syndicated point of sale data (Nielsen, IRI, SPINS, etc.).
  • Both larger company and smaller company experience strongly desired.
  • Ability to “think like an owner” with a strong bias for action.

Salary Range

National Target Base Pay Range: $96,000 - $162,000. The salary range for this position is based on national standards. For candidates in California and New York metro the Target Base Pay Range is $106,000 - $180,000, to reflect the cost of living and market conditions in those areas.

Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, education, experience, qualifications and job-related skills. It is not typical for an individual to be hired above the midpoint of the range for their role and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. This information is provided to applicants in accordance with state and local laws.

Base pay is only one component of our total rewards offerings, and we will take the full offering into consideration when presenting an offer of employment. Our total rewards package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, Medical, dental and vision benefits, 401K match, and other wellness benefits.
