Built for next-generation VR and MR platforms, the game fuses cinematic storytelling, innovative gameplay systems, and a deeply emotional scifi journey. This is a flagship IP in collaboration with a major movie, and a rare opportunity to define the future of immersive storytelling.

Our portfolio includes the critically acclaimed Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom, the immersive adventure Doctor Who: The Edge of Time, and our latest original mixed reality title The Infinite Inside. Most recently, we announced Thief VR, a reimagining of the legendary stealth franchise, bringing the iconic world of Thief into immersive reality for the first time.

At Maze Theory, we’re a passionate team of storytellers, designers, and technologists committed to redefining what games can be. Project Xeno is our most ambitious IP yet, and we’re looking for bold creative leaders to help shape its future.

Role Overview

We’re seeking a Lead Gameplay/Creative Lead to define and drive the player experience across narrative, systems, and moment-to-moment gameplay.

You’ll play a central role in bringing Project Xeno to life, collaborating closely with:

• The Chief Creative Officer (CCO) to shape and uphold the creative vision.

• The Art Director (AD) ensures visual storytelling and world-building align with gameplay.

• The Executive Producer (EP) ensures the project is deliverable, performant, and creatively ambitious.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of the core gameplay loop, player agency systems, and interactive narrative mechanics.

• Translate high-level creative vision into tangible, emotionally resonant gameplay systems.

• Drive cross-disciplinary collaboration to unify gameplay, story, and worldbuilding.

• Design and iterate VR/MR-first interactions that feel intuitive, powerful, and narratively impactful. • Champion a prototype-first development culture, balancing experimentation with clear iteration cycles.

• Lead, mentor, and inspire gameplay and narrative design teams, ensuring creative quality and cohesion.

• Act as the bridge between vision and execution, aligning every feature and interaction with the emotional arc of the experience.

• Be hands-on in Unreal Engine, prototyping gameplay systems and working closely with designers and developers to bring ideas to life. Your Profile

• 8+ years in game design or creative leadership, ideally on immersive, narrative driven titles.

• Proven track record of delivering high-quality games with strong narrative integration and player agency.

• Demonstrated ability to lead emotionally engaging, systems-driven gameplay experiences.

• Experience designing VR, MR, or spatial storytelling platforms is highly desirable.

• Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine, including prototyping, design implementation, and team collaboration.

• Excellent communicator and collaborator, a natural team leader who empowers others while driving creative clarity.

• Thrives in experimental, agile environments, and is excited by the opportunity to invent new forms of play.
