Job Summary:
This position works closely with all engineering project management teams, and manufacturing and packaging locations to ensure that all Capital Projects are executed and meet or exceed expectations. The Engineering Services Director is responsible for all asset management processes, practices, and procedures ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met or exceeded with no violations. The Engineering Services Director is responsible for supporting Equipment (asset) Reliability processes, practices and procedures ensuring all sites are progressing toward world class reliability practices. The Engineering Services Director is responsible for all aspects of E-Z Pak manufacturing, including, design, redesign, rebuilds, modifications, selection of materials, sourcing of materials, labor scheduling, spare parts identification, manufacturing assembly, acceptance testing, start-up and billing. The Engineering Services Director is responsible for all the engineering specifications processes, practices, and procedures ensuring that all best practices are documented and standardized across the organization and that all regulatory requirements are met or exceeded with no violations.
Position is 100% remote, but ideally based in the Chicagoland area.
**Job Duties:**Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for asset management, Maintenance Excellence Team, EZ Pak, and engineering specifications programs and their consistent implementation for all sites.
- Develop and implement consistent asset management, Maintenance Excellence Team, EZ Pak, and engineering specifications policies and procedures to achieve best in class results.
- Supports the development and execution of the annual capital budget for the Maker’s Pride sites within the Director of Engineering Co-man & Co-pack responsibility.
- Provide weekly & monthly reporting of relevant metrics under your control.
- Supporting all capital programs are in scope, on time, and deliver as presented. This will include an annual audit process to validate and verify savings.
- Work closely with all levels of the Supply Chain Leadership Team, Plants and Engineering staff to ensure comprehensive and effective implementation of all programs.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure projects meet the needs of all key stakeholders to include but not be limited to Quality, Food Safety, Planning, Operations, T & W and Maintenance.
- Ensure the development of the engineering organization through effective use of performance management processes, employee feedback and coaching, and development plans. Continuously grow and improve the capability of the engineering organization, its’ people, processes, and technology.
- Constantly search and evaluate technology to ensure optimal and state of the art processes and procedures.
- Assign and oversee projects that are delegated to either: EZ Pak Managers, MET Project Managers, or Sr. Project Engineers to implement.
- Mentor and coach EZ Pak Managers, MET Project Managers, and Sr. Project Engineers in your respective area with regard to proper practices and the sharing of best practices across the organization.
- Foster and encourage a professional work environment with internal and external customers.
- Communicate effectively up, down and across the organization.
- Travel to project sites on a regular basis to ensure adherence to budget, schedule and deliverables.
- Partner with SC Finance and Commercial Finance as needed to assist in business case development for all projects.
- Support the implementation, monitoring and communicating the corporate Reliability Matrix for facilities, which includes the CMMS System.
- Support maintenance dashboard implementation and compliance across the organization
- Identify, manage and track assets transfers / dispositions throughout the company.
- Support the Reliability Strategy to close gaps in availability, capability and competence for all facilities.
- Provide resources and support for reliability issues for maintenance teams across the company.
- Train and coach and manage via influence to facilitate learning from repetitive failures and reliability events across the organization.
- Provides input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operations.
- Document assets (both in storage and internally within facilities) not currently being utilized.
- Create and develop data base to provide Maker’s Pride clear visibility to all assets not being utilized.

- Assess and dispose of all assets that do not have value to reduce rented space.

- Support new business projects within engineering to identify assets within the network that can be used to reduce lead-time and cost of projects.
- Work with maintenance leadership to identify critical spare parts that can be deployed to other locations to reduce inventory and down-time when issue arises.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, significant industry experience or equivalent technical degree required; preferably in Industrial, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and 5-10 years or more of progressive leadership responsibility in the food industry or equivalent GMP manufacturing environment required.
- Previous Engineering and Maintenance Management is a plus.
- 5-10 years or more of relevant business experience in an Engineering leadership role with extensive knowledge of food industry equipment a plus.
- Proven results in business management, maintenance management, project management, cross functional team leadership, budget management, timeline adherence, driving results through continuous improvement tools and influence.
- Extensive CMMS knowledge and proficient in maintenance management including metrics necessary to lead and drive the organization’s equipment reliability program
- Additional background in Project Management of projects in the range of $5-20MM.
- Experience negotiating, preparing and administering vendor agreements and contracts.
The pay range for this full-time, salaried position is $141,436 to $212,154/year. Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive based on company and individual performance.
