Product Designer-Cosmetics (Hands-on experience in cosmetics is required)

The Product Designer-Cosmetics will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing fun, safe, and trend-forward cosmetics products for children. This role involves conceptualizing playful and engaging cosmetic items, from lip balms to nail kits and accessories, while ensuring they align with brand identity, child safety standards, and evolving market trends. They will be working closely with cross-functional teams including Product Designers-Advanced design, graphic designers, suppliers, and manufacturers, to bring imaginative ideas to life.

Responsibilities:

• Develop idea-to-shelf toy concepts that align with market trends, brand identity, and target audience preferences.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, marketers, and manufacturers to refine designs, address technical challenges, and ensure product feasibility and scalability.
• Liaise with suppliers and vendors to obtain and prepare quotes for materials, components, and manufacturing services required for product production (CAD, BOM, specs).
• Provide graphic designers with all the information needed to ensure consistency and clarity in the production of packaging and instruction manuals.
• Maintain awareness of regulatory and safety standards for cosmetics designed for children, ensuring all designs comply with applicable guidelines.

Requirements:

• University or college diploma in design or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in cosmetics product design. Experience with children’s or toy-adjacent products is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of formulations, textures, application formats, and cosmetic packaging, with an emphasis on child safety and sensory appeal.
• Knowledge of cosmetic regulations and compliance standards, especially for products marketed to children.
• Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop and Excel software. SolidWorks is not required but is a plus.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment which requires a certain ability to adapt.
• Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a passion for designing products that inspire and delight children.
