Mackenzie Stuart is working on behalf of a global leader within the Warehouse Automation industry, seeking a Software Controls Engineer to support the design, development, and delivery of complex automated solutions across the US market.
This role focuses on delivering high-quality control systems and software solutions for advanced material handling projects, working closely with internal teams, integrators, and end users.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement control systems and software solutions for warehouse automation projects, including AMRs, GTP systems, and ASRS technologies
- Configure and integrate WCS/WES systems, PLCs, HMIs, and associated control hardware into end-to-end solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, project management, and commissioning) to ensure seamless project delivery from concept through to commissioning
- Work closely with integrators and end users to understand system requirements and translate them into functional control logic and software solutions
- Support system testing, debugging, and commissioning both remotely and on-site
- Identify opportunities to optimise system performance, improve throughput, and enhance operational efficiency
- Ensure all solutions meet safety standards, client specifications, and project timelines
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting during and after project implementation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or related field
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and control systems design
- Experience working with WCS/WES, warehouse automation systems, or material handling environments
- Strong understanding of automation technologies including conveyors, robotics, ASRS, or sorting systems
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills
- Willingness to travel to client sites for commissioning and support when required (Approx. 30%)
