About the Role
We are seeking a Civil CAD Designer to support our land development engineering team. This position focuses on preparing accurate, professional plan sets and exhibits for residential, commercial, and industrial site development projects. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with multiple deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Draft and revise civil/site plans including:
- Existing conditions
- Site layout
- Grading and drainage
- Utilities and profiles
- Stormwater management plans and details
- Erosion & sediment control plans
- Interpret engineer markups and design notes with minimal rework.
- Research public databases, municipal ordinances, county GIS systems, Recorder of Deeds records, and other online resources to support accurate base mapping and plan preparation.
- Maintain CAD standards, proper layering, annotation styles, and file organization.
- Prepare exhibits such as concept plans, phasing diagrams, and presentation graphics.
- Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, and project managers to ensure consistency across plan sets.
- Assist with quantity takeoffs and basic plan‑related calculations.
- Ensure all drawings meet internal QA/QC standards and are submission‑ready.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred) or AutoCAD.
- 2–5+ years of experience in civil/site design, land development, or related drafting.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering plan components and drafting conventions.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering sketches, markups, and technical specifications.
- Experience researching public records, GIS data, and municipal codes.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and file management.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with stormwater BMP plans and details.
- Familiarity with PennDOT standards, NPDES requirements, and municipal ordinances.
- Ability to create or maintain CAD templates, blocks, and styles.
- Experience with Sheet Set Manager or similar plan‑production tools.
