Principal Software Engineer (Remote, AU East Coast)

• Physician Product: Empowers oncologists with AI-driven insights, significantly streamlining clinical decision-making and improving patient care outcomes.
• Dosimetry Product: Delivers next-gen tools for dosimetrists, optimising radiation treatment planning and precision to elevate patient safety and clinical efficiency.

Your Role at Lumonus

As a Principal Software Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in our engineering team, helping define, architect, and implement solutions that have immediate clinical impact. Your work will span deep technical problem-solving, robust software architecture, incident management, and mentoring teams to build scalable, resilient products.

Tech Stack

• Frontend: React, React Native (mobile)
• Backend: Django, PostgreSQL, Redis
• Infrastructure: AWS managed via Terraform, CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions

Responsibilities Include

• Market Leadership & Innovation: Anticipate oncology industry trends and integrate cutting-edge capabilities into our products.
• Global Customer Solutions: Build flexible, scalable features to accommodate diverse global oncology practice requirements.
• Platform Health & Evolution: Balance technical debt strategically to maintain agility without sacrificing growth or stability.
• Compliance & Operational Excellence: Ensure technical compliance and proactively manage operational health using tools like Sentry and DataDog.

Experience and Qualifications

• 8+ years in software development
• 4+ years developing frontend solutions in React
• 4+ years creating backend software using Django
• 3+ years experience working with third party APIs / Integration
• Proven ability managing SEV1/P1 incidents
• Strong expertise in software architecture and design patterns
• Experience with API integrations and automated testing frameworks (Pytest, Cypress, Jest)
• Experience with linting and/or type checking tools e.g. Mypy, Prettier
• Experience with CI/CD deployment tools and processes e.g. GitHub actions
• Proficient with AWS cloud technologies (ECS, EKS, RDS, Lambda, Redis)
• Comfortable maintaining Docker-based environments and CI/CD pipelines
• Maintained Dockerfiles and dependencies for Node / Python applications

Bonus Points For

• Experience integrating with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs)
• Background in rapidly growing SaaS startups
• Familiarity with GenAI or AI-enhanced development tools (Cursor, Copilot, etc.)
