About This Team

The People Science & Analytics team turns workforce data into actionable insight for leaders across lululemon. We design predictive models, listening programs, and self‑serve dashboards that power decisions on talent, culture, and labour compliance for 40 000+ employees in more than 20 countries. Our mandate is to:

  • Elevate decision quality through advanced analytics and experimentation,
  • Embed data‑driven practices in P&C and the business, and
  • Safeguard data integrity, privacy, and regulatory alignment.

By combining deep technical skill with a human‑centred approach, we help create a workplace where every employee can move, grow, and connect.

Core Responsibilities

The Lead People Data Scientist is the technical and thought leader for our most complex analytics products, driving them from concept through production.

  • Serve as product owner and principal developer for models and algorithms supporting Time & Core Duties, Job Architecture, Attrition, and Organizing‑Health & Engagement (OHE) risk prediction.
  • Translate business questions into statistical or machine‑learning approaches; own end‑to‑end pipeline (data discovery, feature engineering, model development, MLOps, monitoring).
  • Partner with P&C, Legal, Retail Ops, and Digital to ensure outputs meet compliance and operational requirements; present findings to SLT and other senior audiences.
  • Coach and mentor a small team of data scientists and analysts; set coding standards, peer‑review processes, and documentation practices.
  • Advance our employee‑listening and skills‑taxonomy analytics, integrating survey, Workday, and external labour‑market data.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering to evolve our semantic layer and ensure model features are governed and reusable.
  • Champion best practices for reproducible research, ethical AI, and privacy‑by‑design.
  • Stay ahead of emerging methods; prototype and socialize innovative techniques that can add value to future roadmaps.

Qualifications

  • Proven expertise (typically 5+ years) in applied data science or machine learning, with at least 2 years leading complex, cross‑functional projects end‑to‑end.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python (pandas, scikit‑learn, PySpark) and SQL; experience with workflow orchestration and MLOps tooling (e.g., Databricks, MLflow, Airflow).
  • Demonstrated success applying predictive modelling to HR, workforce‑planning, or related domains (attrition, job architecture, compensation, survey analytics).
  • Deep understanding of statistical testing, causal inference, and responsible‑AI principles.
  • Strong storytelling skills—able to translate technical results into clear business recommendations for executives.
  • Experience mentoring or managing data scientists and contributing to a collaborative, inclusive team culture.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Economics); advanced degree preferred or equivalent practical experience

Compensation And Benefits Package

lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $ 136,200 - $178,700 annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and, subject to program eligibility requirements.
