Typical Day in the Role
Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is drive reduction in water power use in the Data Centers.
Key projects: This role will contribute to the electrical side of the project.
Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: Electrical side focused on driving us to get certifications desired by Microsoft. Will work directly with the entire organization to get the data centers certified: electrical standard certifications, Efficiency standards, ISO standards, EN standards and then driving regulatory compliance and reporting for electrical related work similar to water. So getting all the data out, analyzing it, seeing where the issues are, being able to report that would be our first concern.
Second part of the role is working on data analysis, defining gaps and then how we address those gaps, working with our partners and engineering operations, Sustainability, environmental compliance, a whole bunch of other groups, make sure there are defined plans to address the gaps and then marching toward the certifications and or compliance to regulation.

Interface and engage with internal customers and stakeholders to drive efficient use of energy and related areas with Microsoft owned and managed datacenters. Inclusive of program and process development of frameworks to drive a repeatable process for engagement by customers. Working to address technical and business issues from identification through remediation and resolution. Drive program/project schedules and status reports. Create and/or review multiple requirements functional specifications new or existing tooling. These will be used to enable decision making and as to influence how the product or service will be implemented or updated. Provide and support gathering of data and analysis for energy related data and others. Organize cross functional activities and teams to ensure the program/project requirements are met and maintained. Provide program/project schedules and status reports to customers and stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
Years of Experience Required: 8-10 overall years of experience in the field.
Degrees or certifications required: No specific degree required for the role.
Disqualifiers: Candidates with lack of impact in their resume: how did you help the business improve, constant job hopping will not be eligible for the role.
Best vs. Average: The ideal resume must have an IMPACT STATEMENT, There will be a technical, a true technical component, They're going to have to be able to grasp and understand calculus, mathematics, thermodynamics, things of that nature. They don't need to know it, but they do need to be able to have the desire and skill set to learn it, be organized, drive results, be willing to learn. Candidates must knowledge or experience with the following:
Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on quality of work, formulating a plan and how they manage that plan, and feedback from the team.
Important Notes
This role will also have a fairly large role in driving compliance related efforts. This is a technical role requiring interaction and engagement electrical engineers, electricians, and other technical roles. Fundamental understanding of these areas is helpful for any candidate and preferred. However, there is no specific degree or certification requirements. Only being able to learn, engage, and get excited about the topic to the point of being able to ask the right questions.
Knowledge of and experience with any and or all of the following regulatory regulations and/or industry standards. Direct experience preferred.
