Software Engineer (Ruby-on-Rails) at Long Angle

Long Angle, a fast-growing private community for very-high-net-worth (VHNW) individuals, is hiring a Ruby-on-Rails Engineer who enjoys pairing with React-frontend teammates to deliver an API for community platform features, and to own a Rails-based internal site used by employees.

This role is ideal for an engineer who values autonomy, thrives on tackling a diverse range of projects, enjoys turning real-world problems from teammates and members into elegant solutions, and is eager to shape the long-term direction of our codebase.

Key responsibilities

• Design & build REST APIs consumed by our member-facing React web and React Native mobile platforms. Features we currently support include discussions, events, investments, and chats
• Develop and maintain our internal site - work with non-technical teammates to improve and extend our internal site that lets them configure and monitor our external member platform
• Optimize performance & reliability - across PostgreSQL, Redis, and Sidekiq

Requirements

• 5+ years building and maintaining production Ruby-on-Rails applications
• Proven experience designing APIs and collaborating closely with React (or similar) front-end frameworks
• Clear, empathetic communication skills - you translate business context into technical solutions and vice versa. You will be the only technical person in some of your meetings
• Be your own designer. You will design and implement the UI/UX for our internal site
• Willingness to incorporate AI tools (e.g., Cursor, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) into workflows

Nice-to-haves

• Hands-on experience leveraging modern AI tools (generative code, prompt engineering, AI-assisted ops)
• Background in fintech, payments, or community-driven products
• Database optimization skills - specifically PostgreSQL
• React or React Native experience
• Familiarity with ruby testing tools (rspec, factory bot)
• Hands-on experience integrating an application with DocuSign

• Salary range: $120,000 - $160,000 (commensurate with experience)
