Director of Product Marketing

Lightbits is powering modern data centers with software-defined block storage that delivers an unmatched combination of scalability, high-performance, and cost-efficiency. We are backed by strategic investors including Cisco Investments, Dell Technologies Capital, Intel Capital, Lenovo, JP Morgan, and Micron, as well as top investors and VCs.

We are seeking an experienced product marketing leader who has successfully incubated new technology ventures to drive the positioning and promotion of Lightbits Labs’ solutions for private and public cloud use cases. As an integral member of the business leadership team, you will be the chief advocate for the product portfolio. You will own and develop GTM plans, positioning, messaging, value proposition, sales enablement, and content.

The ideal candidate for this individual contributor role will have a deep understanding of the data storage ecosystem, datacenter infrastructure, adjacent technologies (such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, virtualization), and broader technical alliances that showcase Lightbits as a solution. In addition, knowledge of the market landscape and a strong aptitude for messaging and positioning the product that resonates to drive sales engagements with the ideal customer target.

The position is based in the U.S., will report to the Chief Revenue Officer, and will work in close collaboration with our VP of Outbound Marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead messaging of the Lightbits solution and value proposition to an ideal customer profile of technical buyers who make decisions on the foundational components of private clouds and service provider clouds.
  • Create compelling content and promotion strategy, in collaboration with product management, marketing, sales and executive leadership that helps drive prospects’ interest and that contributes to increasing the inbound pipeline. This can include: website content, blog posts, and social media posts.
  • Craft compelling technical marketing content such as white papers, presentations, blogs, product demos, videos, and customer case studies to communicate the value of Lightbits' solutions.
  • Create sales enablement assets such as battle cards, playbooks, sales prospecting kits, product videos, competitive material, SWOT analysis, solution briefs, and datasheets
  • Manage key relationships and collaborate with alliance and OEM partners such as RedHat, Mirantis, Supermicro, Lenovo, et. al. on GTM planning and execution, and produce compelling content that articulates a joint value proposition with these partners.
  • Work with product management and engineering to drive and track performance benchmarks
  • Educate both internal and external stakeholders about our product features and their benefits.
  • Create competitive analysis, gather, validate, and evaluate product/market requirements through market and customer research, competitive and product research
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales and customer-facing technical teams to gain market, competitive, and customer insights and translate that into outcomes that drive unique value proposition, differentiation, and market share growth.
  • Collaborate with product management on research, definition, prioritization of new product ideas, and development of PRD. Embrace new technologies and establish their market value.
  • Manage and drive new product launches, to include training (internal and external), pricing, sales tools, promotion, and content. Present the product(s) and service(s) to all audiences, ranging from executive level (C-level) to technical audiences for end customers, partners and integrators, analysts and media
  • Drive measures (KPIs) to quantify Go-To-Market success and strategies to deliver customer delight. Identify areas within the business to drive execution and productivity improvements.
  • Establish product marketing best practices through solid GTM processes and frameworks. Drive operational excellence, measure and prioritize initiatives, and prepare analyses for e-Staff, QBR, and Board meetings.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Deep technical understanding of block storage use cases and competitive landscape both in the cloud and on-premises, including file and object storage.
  • Good understanding of Kubernetes, OpenShift, OpenStack environments
  • Data Center expertise is an advantage.
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary.
  • Inspirational leader; can inspire and motivate teams around a product vision and messaging.
  • Proficient in high-volume writing.
  • Excellent and creative written, spoken and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated and customer-focused.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Experience in identifying target audiences and creating content that engages, informs, and motivates.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum five years experience in product marketing, technical marketing, or similar role.
  • Able to effectively create and build relationships internally and externally
  • Start-up experience is strongly preferred.
  • Able to identify, analyze, and solve ambiguous problems with extreme attention to detail.
