TERM-LIMITED POSITION: This position is term-limited with an anticipated end date of three years from the time of hire with some opportunity for a one-year extension . This Digital Service Expert provide both hand-on development and strategic technical consulting in service to Colorado's mission of delivering innovative, user-centered government services for Colorado's mission of delivering innovative, user-centered government services. This role requires significant hands-on coding and technical implementation work, combined with consulting and leadership responsibilities to advance the state's digital transformation initiatives.
As a working technical expert, you will spend time writing code, building prototypes, and implementing solutions while guiding technical design decisions and establishing best practices. You'll be actively coding in languages such as Python, Java, and PHP, implementing AWS serverless architectures, and developing secure, scalable applications alongside mentoring development teams and advancing modular service design patterns across various phases of digital service improvement efforts.
This position requires someone who can write production-quality code, analyze complex technical environments, translate analytics into actionable recommendations, and build sustainable technical solutions. The Digital Service Expert serves as a working technical leader who codes daily while also bridging technical implementation and business strategy, ensuring that Colorado's digital services meet both current needs and future scalability requirements through direct hands-on development work.

Is a technical leader with a proven track record in their skill-set of delivering IT products and services. While all positions will contribute to the entire mission of OIT and CDS, some positions will focus on specific aspects of the mission such as software engineering, product management, etc.
