LEAD Network is a non-profit and volunteer-led organisation committed to attracting, retaining and advancing women in the Consumer Goods and Retail sector in Europe. Our Vision is of workplaces with a diverse and equitable workforce where everyone can contribute and grow, and where organisations thrive. We are a membership organisation with ambitious growth targets to achieve, and we are putting robust plans, resources and people in place to realise our full growth potential. We have over 25,000 Members, partner with 65 companies from our industry and have over 430+ volunteers who actively help drive our mission forward. Whilst our members are drawn from 81+ countries, our focus is Europe, we aim to secure 80+ companies, and hit our next milestone of 30,000 members by Q2 2026.
What we’re looking for
A self-employed contractor, available 28 hours per week, to join the team at LEAD Network as a Marketing & Communications Sr Manager/Director. The successful candidate will lead the marketing and communication efforts, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, collaborating closely with the wider team, including volunteers, partners, and programme leads. This role is both strategic and hands-on: you will lead the development and implementation of our marketing and communications strategy, while also undertaking day-to-day execution activity across digital channels and campaigns. You will deliver brand management, storytelling, and engagement efforts—ensuring our communications are consistent, simple, compelling, and aligned with our mission.

What you will do
Marketing and Communications Strategy
- Develop and lead a multi-channel marketing and communications strategy to increase brand visibility, programme/product launches, events, and partner outreach.
- Entice companies to partner with LEAD Network and elevate our position as the ‘go to’ organisation for DEI for our Industry.
- Evolve and protect the organisation’s brand identity, messaging, and tone of voice.
- Translate organisational goals into effective communication objectives and campaigns.
- Monitor and evaluate communications activity through key performance indicators.
- Advise leadership on trends and innovations in digital communications and brand strategy.
Teamwork
- Collaborate with a small team of contractors, including those delivering graphic & web design, brand identity, PR, communications & marketing, data analytics, & project management. Align and direct all marketing and communications activity across functional lines in partnership with the COO.
Digital Communications and Content Oversight
- Oversee and create our social media presence across platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram), ensuring timely, consistent, and engaging content.
- Create digital materials—including newsletters, reports, campaign collateral, and partner documents.
- Collaborate with graphic and brand design contractor(s) ensuring all visual content aligns with brand guidelines.
- Create and edit content for website, press releases, email marketing, and partner communications.
- Maintain and execute a streamlined, yet effective, content and communications calendar aligned with key organisational milestones (e.g., programme/product launches, events, etc.)
Stakeholder Engagement and Promotion
- Oversee the development of our brand position on our website, member platform and through social media.
- Develop partner facing presentations and materials that communicate our impact clearly and persuasively.
- Coordinate promotional campaigns for programme/product launches and events.
- Support media engagement and relationship-building with journalists and influencers, working closely with our PR Contractor.
- Work closely with internal teams to elevate stories, outcomes, and voices from our community.
Support
- Manage communication tools and systems (e.g., Mailchimp, CMS, Canva, analytics).
- Track marketing activities.
- Ensure GDPR-compliant contact and communications management.
- Collaborate with the Education and Partnership teams on shared priorities and storytelling opportunities.
- The elevation of LEAD Network as the ‘go to’ organisation for DEI.
What you bring to the role
Skills/qualities
- Strong strategic communications and marketing capabilities, with the ability to be completely hands-on. This role is both strategic and operational, and you must be able to be both simultaneously.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills in English (an additional language is a plus).
- Demonstrated leadership in developing content and brand consistency.
- Strong eye for design and ability to oversee the development of visual assets.
- Solid project management, collaboration, and organisational skills.
- Self-starter, comfortable working independently and across multiple workstreams.
- Proficient in digital platforms including Microsoft 365, Mailchimp, Canva, social scheduling tools, and CMS (e.g., WordPress or similar).
- A passion for Gender Equity and Inclusion.
Relevant experience
- 8-10 years experience in marketing, communications, or brand strategy.
- Experience managing or overseeing social media, visual communications, and campaign delivery.
- Experience working in the social impact, education, or DEI space.
- Familiarity with stakeholder communications including partners, volunteers, and media.
Desirable
- Experience of working for a membership organisation or community, which uses a CRM (ie Hivebrite, Hubspot) to engage, convey messages, and monitor engagement.
- Graphic design or video editing skills.
- Experience of evaluating LinkedIn Analytics.
- Knowledge of European media and communications landscape.
Additional requirement
Comfortable operating in a range of environments and across different levels of seniority.
