For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer | Platform Team to join the team of a leader in the Technical Services space. This role will lead initiatives at the intersection of scalable technology, AI-enabled capabilities, and business transformation. You will work across engineering, product, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and long-term innovation within a Technical Services environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $220,000 – $245,000 annually

Responsibilities

Analyze and troubleshoot Scala systems to identify fundamental issues and scalability solutions
Redesign critical data layers for machine learning and AI applications
Develop a Rust framework to streamline service delivery and enhance correctness
Enhance platform observability and resilience to proactively identify issues
Establish and refine developer tooling and engineering standards to boost overall productivity
Facilitate AI tool adoption across teams, assessing their impact on engineering efficiency
Collaborate across the full stack, employing JVM languages, Rust, Python, SQL, and Spark

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in software engineering, specifically within complex systems
Proficiency in JVM ecosystem (Java, Scala) and Pyhton
Experience with Rust is highly desired but not mandatory
Strong understanding of distributed systems design and data processing, particularly using SQL and Spark
Demonstrated capability in observability and resilience engineering
