For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer Autonomy Evaluation to join the team of a leader in the Manufacturing & Automotive space. This role will lead technical initiatives focused on scalable systems, platform reliability, and meaningful business transformation. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a manufacturing environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $172,800 – $251,650 annually
Responsibilities
- Define evaluation metrics and analysis strategies for autonomous driving software performance
- Lead collaboration across teams in embedding evaluation within development workflows
- Develop novel statistical and ML methods for performance quantification and regression detection
- Own and enhance key metrics and KPIs for AV readiness and safety, presenting insights to stakeholders
- Create interactive dashboards that make performance insights accessible to partner teams
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in robotics or autonomous systems software, covering multiple subsystems
- 3+ years leading evaluations of complex dynamic systems using numerical and ML on time series data
- Proficient in Python and experienced in large C++ codebases
- Demonstrated technical leadership across teams in strategy and architecture decision-making
- Advanced degree (PhD, Masters, or Bachelor’s) in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or related field
