Staff Engineer (Platform)

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Engineer (Platform) to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space.

This role will focus on building and evolving the core platform that supports scalable, secure, and reliable software delivery. You will partner closely with product, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to reduce technical debt, improve developer workflows, and strengthen overall system performance. The position also calls for hands-on technical leadership, including mentoring teammates and helping raise the bar for engineering quality across the organization.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $175,000 – $250,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Design scalable and secure service architectures
• Identify platform improvements and reduce technical debt
• Build backend services using C# or TypeScript
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows
• Ensure application security through best practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on project scope and requirements
• Act as a technical mentor to team members

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development experience in distributed systems and platform engineering
• Proficiency in typed, functional programming using Haskell, Scala, C#, or TypeScript
• Strong SQL and NoSQL database experience, particularly with PostgreSQL
• Expertise with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS or similar cloud services
• Demonstrated mentorship ability to elevate team performance and morale
• Strong understanding of testing, automation, and performance optimization
• Experience with AI/ML applications in production systems is a plus
