Sr. Staff Software Engineer

For our client, we are seeking a Sr. Staff Software Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This role will focus on building and evolving scalable software systems that support critical financial services operations. You will work closely with product and engineering partners to shape technical direction, improve platform reliability, and drive architecture decisions that enable long-term growth. The position calls for a hands-on engineer who can balance deep backend development expertise with broader system design leadership and operational rigor.

Location: Remote

Compensation: $160,000 – $190,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Deliver scalable, fault-tolerant applications in Java and Kotlin
• Investigate and resolve production issues proactively
• Lead architecture design and influence product roadmap
• Conduct code and design reviews for operational efficiency
• Optimize system performance and identify bottlenecks

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software development experience, or 8 years with an advanced degree
• Exceptional programming skills in Java or Kotlin, with backend-leaning full stack experience
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate, and RESTful APIs
• Proficient in Kafka basics, streaming, and performance tuning
• Experience with cloud native infrastructure, particularly AWS and Kubernetes
