Senior System Software Engineer Platform - Server Embedded Firmware

For our client, we are seeking a Senior System Software Engineer Platform - Server Embedded Firmware to join the team of a leader in the Telecommunications & Hardware space. This role will lead technical work focused on secure, reliable systems and risk-aware execution. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a Telecommunications & Hardware environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $224,000 – $431,250 annually

Responsibilities

• Design and implement microcontroller firmware for GPU Server platforms
• Develop manageability features in an embedded-optimized RTOS environment
• Conduct hands-on firmware bring-up, debugging, and performance analysis
• Create embedded management software for server device reporting and connectivity
• Implement communication protocols for integration with various components and peripherals
• Design a portable microcontroller framework for server management subsystems
• Automate unit tests, maintain test reports, and conduct software quality assessments
• Collaborate with security and hardware teams on design reviews and BMC solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• 12+ years of experience in low-level microcontroller firmware development
• Proven experience in developing BMC and microcontroller firmware for managing hardware devices
• Familiarity with embedded interfaces like USB and I3C
• Deep understanding of interrupt schemes, multi-threading, and memory management in embedded systems
• Strong programming and scripting skills in C/C++, Bash, Python, Go, etc
• Experience with hardware schematics and embedded development documentation
• Expertise in server manageability protocols like MCTP and SPDM
