For our client, we are seeking a Senior, Software Engineer - Autonomy Core Frameworks to join the team of a leader in the Manufacturing & Automotive space.
This role will shape the core software frameworks that support autonomous driving capabilities in a complex, production environment. You will drive the architecture and technical direction of real-time systems, with a strong focus on reliability, integration quality, and scalable software design. The position partners closely with behavior and perception teams to keep interfaces clean and ensure the platform can evolve efficiently as autonomy capabilities advance.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $160,800 – $193,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and design of core frameworks for autonomous driving technology
- Drive technical direction of real-time C++ components for data flow and error handling
- Establish scalable patterns for autonomy while facilitating tradeoff discussions
- Collaborate with behavior and perception teams to maintain clean integration boundaries
- Conduct architecture reviews and code reviews to improve engineering standards
- Mentor and coach software engineers to promote technical excellence
- Champion software quality through systematic validation and testing strategies
- Drive architectural improvements based on root cause analysis of platform issues
- Define frameworks for simulation and rigorous testing of architectural components
- Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance the platform's capabilities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field with significant software engineering experience
- Proven expertise in designing and evolving complex production software platforms
- Deep proficiency in C++17 and experience with Python scripting
- Experience with autonomous systems, distributed systems, or complex embedded environments
- Strong knowledge of software testing, continuous integration, and build systems
- Familiarity with large-scale systems-level software design and managing technical debt
- Experience mentoring engineers and establishing scalable engineering standards
