For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer And System/application Administrator to join the team of a leader in the Aerospace & Defense space. This role will lead technical work focused on secure, reliable systems and risk-aware execution. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a Aerospace & Defense environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $124,000 – $206,000 annually

Responsibilities

Own and maintain enterprise applications in AWS GovCloud
Support modernization of client-server applications with OpenWebStart
Design, develop, and optimize software using C++, Java, and Scala
Manage and optimize PostgreSQL databases
Perform Linux system administration tasks
Ensure compliance with security requirements for government cloud
Monitor system performance and implement automation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams for solution delivery
Implement best practices for cloud-native development
Troubleshoot technical issues across application stack

Qualifications

US Citizenship or permanent residency required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
8+ years of software development experience
Proficiency in C++, Java, and Scala
Experience with client-server architectures and Java desktop apps
Familiarity with OpenWebStart or similar technologies
Linux system administration experience (RHEL, Ubuntu)
Proficiency in PostgreSQL design and administration
Hands-on experience with AWS services (GovCloud preferred)
