Senior Software Engineer, AI Automation

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, AI Automation to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space.

This role will shape and scale AI-powered automation that improves how internal teams operate and execute critical business processes. You will design reliable production systems that move beyond prototypes, with a strong focus on trustworthy data use, deployment quality, and operational rigor. The position partners closely with data engineering and business stakeholders to build secure, auditable solutions that can be used confidently across the organization.

Location: Remote

Compensation: $134,600 – $199,600 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of AI agents and automation workflows for internal teams.
• Translate complex business processes into reliable software solutions.
• Design integrations between AI agents and existing systems using MCP and similar frameworks.
• Define architecture and operational standards for production AI systems.
• Establish evaluation strategies and quality baselines for deployment decisions.
• Build systems with robust controls for permissions and auditability.
• Collaborate with data engineering and business stakeholders to ensure trustworthy data usage.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, particularly with LLM-backed applications.
• Proven track record of transitioning AI agents from prototype to reliable production.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience in production data models.
• Expertise in multi-step automation workflows and production deployment.
• Experience integrating AI systems with business-critical applications.
• Strong judgment in evaluation methodologies and safety controls for AI deployment.
• Solid fundamentals in Git, CI/CD, and production engineering best practices.
• Ability to navigate ambiguous environments and influence stakeholders effectively.
