Senior Backend Engineer, Experimentation

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer, Experimentation to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space.

This role will focus on building and operating scalable backend services that power customer-facing experimentation capabilities. You will own critical systems across their full lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on reliability, data ingestion, results processing, and backend architecture. This is a highly collaborative position working across product and engineering teams to deliver robust solutions that meet customer needs and support production excellence.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $163,000 – $224,070 annually

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable backend services and APIs for the experimentation product
• Own backend components through their full lifecycle, from inception to deployment
• Build and improve systems for experiment setup, data ingestion, and results processing
• Contribute to architectural decisions that balance scalability and reliability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align customer needs with technical solutions
• Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement fixes
• Enhance observability and reliability while participating in on-call rotations

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend services in production
• Fluency and experience with AI tools in software engineering and output evaluation
• Proven track record designing scalable, reliable, and maintainable customer-facing systems
• Proficiency in Go or similar backend languages such as Python, Rust, or C++
• Understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and data-intensive services
• Familiarity with analytical data stores such as ClickHouse, Postgres, or equivalent technologies
• Strong problem-solving skills with experience diagnosing production issues and improving system reliability
