For our client, we are seeking a Principal Data Scientist to join the team of a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will partner with business, technical, and operational stakeholders to build reporting, surface trends, and translate analysis into action. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen data-driven execution and help teams focus on the metrics that matter most within a consumer-facing environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $143,000 – $286,000 annually

Responsibilities

Apply machine learning ranking algorithms to enhance search system relevance
Build, validate, test, and deploy predictive models to solve business and engineering challenges
Identify, collect, and analyze appropriate data for predictive modeling and algorithm development
Lead developments in natural language processing, computer vision, information retrieval, and recommender systems

Qualifications

7+ years of experience in the machine learning field with an interest in scaling technology
Proficient in data cleaning, preparation, featurization, and selection techniques
Experience with large datasets to resolve complex problems
Familiarity with deep learning libraries such as TensorFlow and/or PyTorch, and with Spark or Hadoop
Proficient in Python, Java, or Scala for coding resilient machine learning pipelines
Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication
Ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Ph.D. or Master's degree in relevant fields like Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics
